Since I moved to Seattle three years ago I have raved about the mountains that surround my city to each and everyone of my family members, but it wasn't until this past September that I was actually able show them off.
Each year in August my dad's side of the family spend a week camping at Scott's Flat Lake (near Nevada City, CA). We have been camping there for over 20 years and in the same exact campsites none the less.
This past year I started going on more hikes by myself. It started out as a necessity, friends aren't always available when the weather is nice, but I have come to really love my time alone out in nature (my parents hate it :)) . Its empowering, peaceful, and allows me to not miss views like these. Also, wildflower season at Mt Rainier might be my favorite. I was able to catch the bloom back in August in between a few of my trips.
It has been quite some time since I have posted and part of my goals for this year is to be more on top of that! Over the next few weeks I'll be catching up on what I have been up to since coming back from my Utah road trip in July. About 24 hours after getting back from Utah I hopped on a plane to meet my family on Oahu. The week was spend hiking, lounging on the beach, snorkeling, and eating some amazing pastries from Ted's (which was only a 5 minute walk from the house we were staying at).
Although Bryce Canyon was my favorite park Zion still put on a fantastic show. We lucked out weather wise and were able to hike The Narrows on a day where flash floods were not expected. We did encounter some thunder about an hour and half in and decided to cut our hike short. We also made it to the top of Angels Landing, which was a pretty big feat for me since I am deathly afraid of heights.
We left Moab and headed to Byrce Canyon National Park. This was my favorite park of the trip. Not only was the weather a little cooler (July is hot in the desert:)) but the views and colors were out of this world.
At the beginning of July I took a road trip through Utah with two of my best friends from college. We started off the trip with three nights in Moab, exploring Arches and Canyonlands National Parks.
almost 3 years ago I moved to Seattle to start a job at pacific science center and met the most amazing people that soon became my close friends. Last night we celebrated the wedding one of our science on wheels lovelies. Beautiful night for a beautiful couple!!
My parents love finding spots to visit that are halfway between my hometown in California and Seattle where I currently live. Bend Oregon was the perfect little spot to spend this past weekend with them and other childhood friends. Slowly but surely exploring more of what Oregon has to offer.
my first trip to the san juan islands was one for the books. so much beauty in our little neck of the woods.
